Douglas W. Johnson - a.k.a. Papa Doug
Be encouraged and stretched by articles and teachings from Doug.
Doug Johnson came to faith in Jesus Christ after being radically delivered from drugs and alcohol in his early twenties. Emerging from the hippie movement, he became a passionate follower of Christ and was soon powerfully baptized in the Holy Spirit, igniting a lifelong calling to ministry.
In his early years, Doug served as an evangelist in local jails and street ministries while also leading worship in his local church. During the Toronto Blessing, he experienced a profound revelation of the Father's love that would shape the direction of his ministry for years to come.
When spiritual renewal reached his local church, the resulting division led Doug to step away from ministry and enter a season of deep personal testing and spiritual refinement. In the spring of 1999, God dramatically revealed His glory in Doug's living room and called him back into ministry. That encounter led to the founding of Harvest Church.
Harvest Church became one of the first churches to join the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening (ANGA) under the leadership of Randy Clark. Through this partnership, Doug helped cultivate a culture centered on the Father's love, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the healing ministry of Jesus.
Although retired from pastoral ministry, Doug describes himself as "refired." He now leads Revealing the Father, a ministry within the ANGA network devoted to helping believers discover the Father's heart and raising up spiritual sons and daughters. His desire is to finish well by revealing the Father's love to the Body of Christ and investing in the next generation of Christian leaders.
Doug is the co-author of Spiritual Fathers and is completing his first solo-authored book, scheduled for release in 2026.
Doug and his wife, Betsy, have been married for more than 53 years. They are blessed with three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The Heart of my Ministry
My desire is to equip and train believers to share the gospel from the perspective of the Father’s heart; rooted in restorative justice that heals, reconciles, and restores relationship. Evangelism is not a forensic transaction aimed at avoiding punishment, but an invitation into communion with the Father through Christ, where brokenness is made whole and estrangement is overcome by love. This approach contrasts with the more common retributive framework found in much of evangelical and charismatic Christianity, which often emphasizes legal standing and penalty. Instead, I seek to cultivate a relational witness. One that reflects Jesus’ revelation of the Father, calling people not merely to a change of status, but into the lived reality of sonship, healing, and union with God.
